The desire to see and share the wonders of nature is what motivates photographer Rob Packer to share his sense of wonder on this website. Photography is and has been a passion of Rob's for many years. He has been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of Australia and the galleries enable you to explore the variety of Australian landscapes.
The collection now includes photographs of Uganda from Rob's first overseas trip as well as a few from a recent trip to New Zealand. It is hoped there will be further trips.
I've been taking photos ever since my parents gave me my grandfathers ancient No 2-A Folding Brownie camera when I was about eight. I still have the camera sitting on my desk and remember taking photo’s of kangaroos in a national park with it. Over the years I've gathered a significant collection of slides. I also have a rapidly expanding range of digital images. As you may be able to guess, I prefer to be behind the camera, not in front of it.
Most of the photos have been taken in South Australia where I lived
until January 2006. Then came the move as a family to South East
Queensland. There are of course photos taken on trips interstate.
Since moving to Queensland I have begun to experiment with digital and am currently using a Canon DSLR.
One of these days I'll get a photo of me taking a photo.
My biggest motivation for photography, apart from a love of nature, is to be able to capture some of the glory of creation and share it with others. For me the words from Psalm 19:1 are important.
